Delft Tulip Tiles

This is a grouting technique, where I take a design that has embossed details in it. After baking the pieces for half the required time, I grout them with liquid clay, making sure to fill every crack, and wipe off the excess. They go back in the oven for the remainder of the time, which hardens the liquid clay. Following the second baking, I use acetone to gently wipe away at any remaining colour on the piece where it isn’t wanted. Depending on the style, I will often leave it as is (it doesn’t need to be sealed). For these, however, I wanted to give them a tile look, so I added a resin topcoat.
